Competing at the Bauhaus Juniorengala meeting in Mannheim, Germany on 30th June 2013, Elliot Safo (Croydon Harriers) became the sole holder of the record with a jump of 7.73m/+0.9. Previously he jointly held the record with Oliver Newport of 7.70m.
Competing in the Diamond League Meeting held in Birmingham on 30th June 2013, James Dasaolu (Croydon Harriers) twice improved the previous Surrey record of 10.08 which he set earlier this month. He won Heat 2 with a time of 10.05/-1.3 and then came second in the Final with a time of 10.03/+0.8 to become the equal fourth fastest all-time UK athlete.

James Dasaolu (Croydon Harriers) sets new Surrey Record for 100m of 9.91/+1.1 in winning the 2nd of 3 semi-finals but withdrew from the final with cramp. Alex Wright (Belgrave Harriers) set new Surrey Record of 19:27.4 for 5000m Walk.

Women - 3000m & 5000m Emelia Gorecka (AFD); 400mH Shona Richards (WSEH).
LATEST NEWS:- 18.07 - Elliot Safo jumped 7.62m in the qualification round to automatically qualify for Friday's final. His jump was the 3rd best from the 2 pools. 19.07 - Shona Richards ran 58.96 to win Heat 3 and automatically qualify for Saturday's semi-finals. Shona's time was the sixth fastest from the four heats. Jacob Paul wins Heat 1 with a Surrey record time of 50.74 to qualify for Saturday's semi-finals. Jacob's time was the fastest from the four heats. In the Long Jump final Elliot Safo took the lead in the first round with a jump of 7.71m/+0.1 just short of his county record of 7.73m. Same distance in 2nd round then makes a big improvement to 7.82m/-0.1 in the 3rd round to set a new Surrey record. After 3 rounds he leads by 26cm. In the 5th round the Belgian athlete Mathias Broothaerts junped 7.84m but Elliot responded by jumping 7.86m/-0.3 which further improved the Surrey record. Series: (7.71/+0.1, 7.71/-0.1, 7.82/-0.1, 7.60/-0.5, 7.86/-0.3, 7.77/-0.6). ELLIOT SAFO IS EUROPEAN UNDER-20 LONG JUMP CHAMPION. 20.07 - Shona Richards finished 4th in the first semi-final with a time of 58.64 - a new Surrey record - to qualify for Sunday's final. Jacob Paul won the second semi-final with a time of 51.13 to qualify for Sunday's final. Emelia Gorecka won the 3000m with a time of 9:12.53. The second place runner was over 13 seconds behind. EMELIA GORECKA IS EUROPEAN UNDER-20 3000M CHAMPION. 21.07 - Shona Richards finished 5th in the final with a time of 58.33 - another new Surrey record. Jacob Paul finishes 3rd in the final with a Surrey record time of 50.71. Emelia Gorecka did not start in the 5000m.
Competing at the British Milers Club Festival of Miles meeting held at the Iffley Road, Oxford track, the home of the 4-minute mile, on 20th July 2013, Tom Holden (South London Harriers) broke the county under-17 record of 4:17.9 set by Colin Church (Walton AC) in September,1963, when he recorded a time of 4:15.79.
Competing at the Horsham Blue Star Open Meeting at Horsham on 4th August 2013, Sophie Mace (Walton AC) improved her previous record of 40.38m, set in May, to 41.30m.
Competing at the Woking AC Open Meeting on 7th August 2013, Sophie Mace (Walton AC) improved her previous record of 41.30m, set 3 days earlier, to 42.06m.
Competing in the BMC Meeting at Watford on 7th August 2013, Gus Cockle (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) improved the previous 1500m record of 3:52.80 he set in June. His time of 3:51.81 was set when he finished 6th in the A Race.

The following Surrey athletes were selected for the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team:-
Men - 100m & 4x100m Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Sutton & District) & James Dasaolu (Croydon); 4 x 400m Martyn Rooney (Croydon); 20k Walk Alex Wright (Belgrave). Marty Dent (Belgrave) was selected to represent Australia in the Marathon where he finished 23rd - a performance which gained him selection for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

SURREY RECORDS for Sophie Mace (Walton AC) - U15G Hammer Throw of 47.94m (previous record of 46.05m set by Sophie in April 2013) and Morgan Lake (Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow) - U17W Triple Jump of 12.26/+1.8 ( previous record of 12.19m set by Rebekah Passley in August 2003). This was Morgan's first appearance for Surrey to confirm her change of allegiance to Surrey.
Competing at the Oxford City AC Open Meeting on 14th August 2013, Sophie Mace (Walton AC) improved the previous record of 38.95m, set by Carla Letheby (Walton AC) in 2010, to 39.82m.
