RUN AWAY VICTORY FOR GORDON PIRIE.
Gordon Pirie (SLH) was 1 minute ahead of the 2nd placer to (as stated in Athletics Weekly) establish himself as England's No. 1 cross-country runner. Surrey finished 5th in the team placings.
The report of the meeting in Athletics Weekly contained the following: "... the results must be considered in the light of the conditions which prevailed during the weekend. We were warned to expect high winds which are a prevailing feature of this track situated in its elevated position above Bradford. We certainly got them."

Competing in the Inter-City Floodlit Meeting held at White City, London on 17th September 1952 where she won the 880 yards Valerie Ball (Spartan Ladies) with a time of 2:14.5 set a new World Record.
