OFFICIALS - WE DO NEED THEM

Anyone who is trying to run an athletics club or organise an athletics meeting needs officials.

The duties are varied and interesting and you would not be expected to work alone but as part of a team being guided by experienced officials.

Courses are available for anyone interested in becoming an official. The UKA courses are run in the various regions by England Athletics and cover both the basics of officiating – Assistant Official - through to Level 1 officiating as a Field or Track Judge, Timekeeper or Starter/Starter’s Assistant. The courses generally last for about four hours and can be split into two 2 hour sessions if appropriate. There is a small charge for each course.

Most people interested in becoming an official do so by joining their local athletic club who may fund their training programme.

Full details of training courses available and venues appear on the England Athletic website or alternatively please contact the Surrey Officials Secretary details above.
