(1) MEN (SENIORS / JUNIORS / YOUTHS) CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, WIMBLEDON, 2ND JANUARY 1971

RESULTS.

(2) SOUTHERN WOMENS INTER-COUNTY CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, WATFORD, 9TH JANUARY 1971

Once again we enjoyed a fine day although the going was heavy and muddy in parts. Illness prevented quite a few of our stronger athletes from taking part but, nevertheless, it was good see the Seniors amongst the medal winners by finishing third. The Intermediates were 7th and the Juniors were 5th.       PERFORMANCES BY SURREY ATHLETES & TEAM SCORES.

(3) WAAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, COSFORD, 29TH/30TH JANUARY 1971

Congratulations to Brenda Bedford (Mitcham AC) on her victory in the Shot Putt.       PERFORMANCES BY SURREY MEDAL WINNERS.

(4) WOMENS ROAD RELAYS, RICARDS LODGE SCHOOL, WIMBLEDON, 30TH JANUARY 1971

This event was originally scheduled for October but, following a caretakers' strike the venue was unavailable. The weather proved to be very cold and wet and very slippery underfoot. Nevertheless, the teams turned out in full as usual. Selsonia LAC won the Junior and Intermediate races with Woking AC winning the Senior race.       PARTIAL RESULTS.

(12) SURREY WOMEN v CIVIL SERVICE v WRAF, MOTSPUR PARK, 8TH JULY 1971

The competition for the Ariel Trophy took place on a beautifully sunny day which was ideal for athletes and spectators. With some fine performances in both track and field events by all three teams; a fine display of gymnastics by a skilled team of performers and a musical background supplied by the RAF Central Band, a most enjoyable meeting was greatly appreciated by all present. Surrey athletes won 8 of the 11 events to retain the trophy.       PERFORMANCES BY SURREY ATHLETES & TEAM SCORES.

(13) ENGLISH SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS, CRYSTAL PALACE, 9TH/10TH JULY 1971

Congratulations to Andrea Lynch (Selsonia LAC) and Brian Hooper (Woking AC) on their victories in the Senior Girls 200m and Senior Boys Pole Vault respectively.       PERFORMANCES BY SURREY MEDAL WINNERS.

Congratulations to Dave Travis (Surrey LAC) and Paul Nihill (Surrey Walking Club) on their victories in the Javelin and 3000m Walk respectively. Paul's time was Championship Best and when finishing second in the Pole Vault Brian Hooper (Woking AC) set AAA National and UK Junior records.       PERFORMANCES BY SURREY MEDAL WINNERS.
